The Cottage Book Shop is located in Glen Arbor, Michigan. (Between Arts Tavern and Lake Street Studios, next to the public garden with restrooms which occupies the former Glen Arbor Fire Department site. Across the street are Petoskey Petes, Glen Arbor Artists Gallery, Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Cherry Republic.)
Our active and loyal year-round, second home owners, and returning summer visitor population support this unique charming book shop in a historic log cabin. If you haven't had the chance to visit yet, we hope these pictures will encourage you to stop by the next time you are in Glen Arbor. Returning second home owner Joanne Bender told us "I feel like I'm home now that I have come in here." Newcomers to the shop stand in awe looking at the beauty of the log cabin structure as they hear of its historical significance in the community. No need to bring a book supply with you, we can have one waiting for you upon arrival, or can assist you in making a selection. Families seek us upon arrival in Glen Arbor to choose their vacation reading. Even staff love working in this cozy cottage with its lively synergy of positive energy flowing among staff and customers as books are discussed. We appreciate customer patience while maneuvering tight spaces and occasionally waiting to enter the narrow history/mystery room. Summer story hours led by Cindy Rosiek and book signing events are held outdoors in our Pine Patch.
As active members in our Midwest small town resort community, we are ardent supporters of local shopping, donate to charities, and contribute to the arts which enliven and enrich all of our lives. We work with Glen Lake Community Library to provide books for events, sell their donated old books online, and partner in their Holiday Book drive for needy local children.
